Alisa Dix, M.S., LPC
As a therapist, I bring my compassion, curiosity and creativity to support you in making space for change. I'm interested in learning what helps you feel connected with your aliveness, and how to strengthen this resource. Together, we'll explore what matters to you, and what needs tending for you to live a life more aligned with your vision and values.
I have experience helping people living with anxiety, depression, challenging life transitions and acute and chronic medical problems, as well as relationship and identity explorations. My clinical background includes working with people throughout the lifespan, from adolescents to older adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings. For more than five years I co-facilitated a Survivors of Suicide monthly bereavement support group and am comfortable working with people experiencing this and other kinds of grief and loss.
My therapeutic approach is informed by relational theories, mindful awareness practices and the mind-body connection. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) in-training at the Intermediate level. Somatic Experiencing is a trauma-informed intervention that works to understand nervous system activation, and how embodied patterns of behavior may be keeping us stuck.
I came to therapy as another career, after working in graphic design and running a small letterpress print shop in Pittsburgh for more than 20 years. I earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University.
I am LGBTQIA+ aware and affirming and welcome people of all identities. I look forward to co-creating a relationship that helps you access your inherent wisdom and capacity to heal and transform.
